Rick Silva and I made a couple of custom Doug-fir tables for Redbrick's great room, from wood salvaged less than a block away in Victoria's Chinatown's Fan Tan Alley (yes, I still have some of that wood left!). One of them is a 'high top' designed for standing, and with a great view of the ping pong table. The big one is 10 feet long and 40 inches wide, with some crazy x legs and 1 1/4 " steel pipe across the middle. We built an 8 foot long bench to match, all white-washed to keep things bright in this very bright space.
Vancity - Community Partner
The good folks at Victoria's Mt. Tolmie Branch of Vancity asked me to attend the recent Creatively United for the Planet event as a Community Partner. Who doesn't like being an official poster boy? I had some art pieces in progress to work on, and brought along a table that I applied finish to during the day. Lots of great discussions and the Vancity crew was awesome!
